This is a Basic Question and Answer to a Common Core Math Question in Algebra.
Why do I think Common Core is great for our Students?
I believe that it will help them and prepare them College and their Career's they are searching for. Every Career (most Likly) will involve some type of math, english, reading, science in it. We need them to be prepared. This is all apart on how we cna Improve Education in which I'm very invovled into doing. But what is Common Core?
Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live.
Most parents and others are so highly against this. But why not support it if it helps your child prepare for his/her College and Career.
Most people ask what are the Standards. Here are the Standards Listed Below.
Research- and evidence-based
Clear, understandable, and consistent
Aligned with college and career expectations
Based on rigorous content and application of knowledge through higher-order thinking skills
Built upon the strengths and lessons of current state standards
Informed by other top performing countries in order to prepare all students for success in our global economy and society
You will not believe how mnay people I have come across who believe Common Core is Stupid or should not even be in our schools. I have talked to a family yesterday about this topic and he believes that his child should not be going to school if they have this.
To my, this is easy stuff, and if our teachers teach our students correctly, they will pick it up in no time. Just like us, we know how to add, subtract, mutiply, divide and etc... that is because our school system and teachers taught us how to do it. Everyday, every year, and every Quienquennium, every Decade, every Century and every Millennium if we are still year of course.
